W-Industries (Volta LLC) Awarded Contract by Southern Company Gas for Cherokee LNG Expansion in Georgia

W-Industries Electrification Division (formerly Volta LLC) has been awarded a key contract for the Cherokee LNG Expansion Project by Southern Company Gas. The contract covers engineering, procurement, and construction of a bespoke Power Distribution Center (PDC) that will be installed at the Cherokee LNG site in Ball Ground, Georgia. The PDC will be constructed at W-Industries’ 225,000 square foot Gears Road facility in Houston and will be outfitted with Medium and Low Voltage Equipment including W-Industries’ own 5kV and 15kV VoltaGear.

ATLANTA, April 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Atlanta Gas Light today announced the expansion of its liquified natural gas (LNG) facility in Cherokee County. The project will double the facility’s capacity and will allow the company to stay ahead of projected natural gas demands in this fast-growing region for years to come. The project includes the installation of a second tank, which will allow Atlanta Gas Light to store gas when it is most affordable and then have access to that supply during periods of peak demand. Construction is currently underway and will be completed in phases over the next three years.
